World Car Free Day Wednesday 22nd September 2021

We are marking World Car Free Day – Wednesday 22 September – by offering £5 off any ticket for customers new to buying tickets on our mobile app on the day.

We are committed to encouraging more people to use sustainable transport across the county, as Suffolk & Essex begins to return to normal – post pandemic.

World Car Free Day is an initiative aimed at easing congestion, as well as improving air quality by promoting mass transit, cycling and walking to motorists as alternative methods of travel.

World Car Free Day ties in perfectly with what we are trying to achieve. Now that life is beginning to get back to normal, and people are returning to their offices, schools and colleges – in addition to the shops, bars and restaurants – buses can provide the perfect and affordable solution to reducing air pollution.

Here at Ipswich Buses, we welcome any initiative designed to reduce the harmful effects exhaust emissions have on the environment.  Our bus fleet is one of the cleanest and greenest in the region and over 76% of our fleet now have Euro 5 or Euro 6 engines which play a positive role in improving the air quality on our network of routes across Ipswich, East Babergh, Colchester & Essex.

Our vehicles fitted with Euro 6 technology release fewer emissions than the average new diesel car.

Those travelling with us can now take advantage of our new app – which allows users to buy their ticket and store it on their phone, plan their journey, track their bus in real time and check to see how busy their bus is before they travel. Customers can also purchase a ticket and gift it to any other device which is very useful for school children meaning they don’t have to carry cash to purchase their ticket.

Ipswich Buses is offering £5.00 off ticket for anyone who downloads our APP on Wednesday 22nd September when they use the code “CARFREE”.

This offer is not transferable and only available for new app purchases only on the mobile app.  The discount codes will only work on Wednesday 22nd September 2021 inclusive. To use the discount codes, you need to set up an account in the mobile app, select the ticket , and then enter the code at checkout to get the discount.
