Travel help for people on incapacity benefits looking for employment

In an innovative scheme aimed at reducing car travel and helping with the cost of travel, Reed in Partnership in Ipswich are being supplied with Greensaver 7 travel strips.

Reed in Partnership has recently started running new Pathway to Work services in Ipswich. Pathways to Work is a government programme aimed at helping people on incapacity benefits into sustainable employment by offering 1-2-1 support through a Personal Adviser, help with training and job search activities and advice on interview preparation.

The Greensaver 7 travel strips, which can be used on any Ipswich Bus service, will be used by jobseekers so that they can travel to Reed in Partnership's office for free and also attend job interviews and skills training.
 
Managing Director of Ipswich Buses Malcolm Robson said:
“We are continually looking at ways to attract new users to our services, to grow our market but also to reduce the harmful effects of car based travel. This initiative between ourselves and Reed in Partnership will really assist people who need help finding work.“

David O'Sullivan, Senior Operations Manager, said:
"Reed in Partnership is committed to helping people on incapacity benefits find good local jobs. The provision of free travel for our customers is one of the ways that we help people make the move from benefits into employment.
