GOOD NEWS FOR BUS PASSENGERS
There’ll be another tree along in a minute! Well, thanks to Ipswich Buses, there’ll be a lot more trees in an Ipswich park.
The Borough Council-owned bus Company agreed to fund the planting of hundreds of trees in Landseer Park during a community planting to mark National Tree Week.
The cash comes from the selling of monthly Smartrider Cards during July, August and September with the Company’s “Our routes grow trees” campaign.
A photocall takes place on Saturday 6th December at the Holbrook Road entrance to Landseer Park at 11 am. Among those attending are volunteer planters, Park Rangers, Ipswich Buses M D Malcolm Robson and the Mayor of Ipswich, Roger Hale.
Malcolm Robson M D of Ipswich Buses said: “We really wanted to support this initiative as public transport and a greener environment go hand in hand. Smartrider is an excellent ticket available for weekly, monthly and annual travel. We have chipped in to pay for a tree for every monthly Smartrider card sold during those three months. Ipswich is a clean and green town and we believe bus travel is helping to make it that way.”
