Fare and ticketing changes 18 February 2018
Most Ipswich Buses routes, fares and timetables will be changing on 18 February.
A description of the timetable and route changes was announced in a separate release on 18 January details of which can be found here.
This document therefore describes the changes to fares in both the Ipswich Town area and on our country services.
A new simple fare structure will be introduced on the town services as follows:
Ipswich Town Fares
There will be three simple fare bands and the zones from the town centre, details of the map will be released soon.
The fare boundaries will be set to be more equal between the different parts of the town with the result that some fares will be lower and others higher than previously charged. In particular, fares from Dale Hall will be reduced.
Transfer tickets will cut the cost of changing buses. Buy a transfer ticket for £2.50 and board any other bus within an hour.
Day Tickets will allow travel all day in the Town area for:
Under 20 £2.50
Family £5.00 (2 adults plus up to 3 children or 1 adult and up to 4 children)
Fares for those under 20 will be simplified to £1.20 for any single journey in the town area, at any time of day, and £2.00 for a return journey. Those aged between 16 and 20 need to show an Endeavour pass available from Suffolk County Council to qualify for these fares.
If you are under 20 and are travelling for a short distance in just one zone, the standard £1.00 fare is available to you.
* If you are aged 11-20 years of age you can still get our great value Children’s fare but you must have the correct photo ID to show the driver. Please remember that we accept any of the following as forms of ID: Ipswich Buses ID card, endeavour card, provisional/ full driving licence and original passport (no photo copies). The driver has the right to refuse travel and ask for an adult fare to be paid if you do not show the correct form of ID when asked.
Period tickets will be priced as follows:
|10 Trips||£15.00||10 Trips||£10.00|
Fares for dogs will be removed and well behaved dogs will be welcome on Ipswich Buses services without charge from the same date.
Country Service fares
Many of these fares have not changed for a number of years now and some prices will therefore increase to help to cover rising costs since the last revisions. However, to speed boarding, we have rounded many of our fares and some fares will therefore be reduced and others will remain unchanged.
Fares for Endeavour pass holders will be reduced to match our child fares, offering savings for customers under 20.
The Shotley Rover will no longer be available. However, new Day and Country Rover tickets will be available on routes 92-98 and 111/111A, including travel to Colchester, Manningtree, Shotley and Hitcham:
10 trip tickets will vary with distance and are available for both adult and Under 20 prices on all country routes.
Once again, many of these fares have not changed for a number of years and some prices will therefore increase to help to cover rising costs since the last revisions. However, to speed boarding, we have rounded many of our fares and some fares will therefore be reduced and others will remain unchanged.
Single and return tickets remain available on all school routes and we will now offer the option of 10 Journey tickets on all school buses, including those where they are not currently available. We will be contacting each school to advise the new prices.
